I finally decided that instead of fighting with my hosted WordPress blog and the great templates I have, today I needed to just throw in the towel and go with a WordPress hosted blog. I’ve been trying to get my blog up for a year and a half!
In fairness to myself, I didn’t use all that time to work on figuring things out. But, during that time, I’ve read TWO substantial books about using WordPress and seem to understand how it all works. The problem is that when it doesn’t work, then EVERYTHING comes to a screeching halt! You really have to understand a certain amount of programming and that is not my goal. I’m sure I could learn it, but, I don’t want to spend my time doing that.
So, I realized that my next option was using WordPress hosting. I can see that they’ve added some good features even in the last year. So, I don’t think I’m missing that much. I can see that using Plugins is a great thing, but, when they go astray…it’s another day or week lost in the WordPress jungle.
I’m very happy to find that certain things work better like Posting By Email. It’s working great with the new hosting arrangement. I struggled all day yesterday and never could get things right.
That’s important to me because I prefer to post by email for some reason. I guess I’m just used to writing a lot of emails and it doesn’t give me writer’s bbbbblock the way I seem to get it when I think of writing a blog entry!
That’s how I wrote this and I’ll learn more about how to add media over time. For now, I just wanted to have a decent place to put my thoughts. Here we go.
